Autumn song
Finally I feel glad and ready to share a new composition of mine. Besides my exploration in songs and landscapes, I have lately been experimenting with voice, guitar, poetry and electronics. I hope you enjoy!
The picture was created almost exactly a year ago high up in the Tara mountain region in Serbia, completely snowed in.

dive
Dive is a poem I wrote a few years ago. Sometimes, words come to me through time and space and all I have to do is arrange them like a melody. Dive was like that. Its content was so clear I just had to listen, again and again, and rewrite until it felt and sounded right. I drew these pictures in July and August and they brought the poem back to me, reminding me of it. Enjoy! I recommend actually reading the poem to yourself out loud…

the book of a thousand fragilities
This text was written for the September issue of KUTI magazine, which we, the ZORAS Collective have co-created with other artists we invited to join us, and then curated. It was just presented at Helsinki comics festival and is officially released now! Zoras is a true gift to me and soon I will share more about our journey of making the KUTI issue on my website portfolio.
The idea for the book of a thousand fragilities was born during our residency at Viernulvier in Gent last April. One day, this sentence “I wish I could write the book of a thousand fragilities” was on my mind and grew gradually from then on.

crooked lines
A poem inspired by learning about meridians (in geography) and the fact that, eventually, two parallel lines will always meet on this earth.
the pictures I am sharing are coal and Chinese ink on drawing paper.

kalihá
This fluffy friend is someone I met in the Diersfordter Wald. I just started my artistic research at Schloss Ringenberg, while also taking Wood Says to its final place for this year. The poem as well as the essay were born there, after having walked along the Schwarzes Wasser for many times. It is a beautiful area, that has seen destruction and rebirth many times. I am learning a lot, contemplating how to share all of it with you through voice, words, and colour. This poem is a start.

Last night i dreamed my tears weren`t futile
I had a dream about this image of my tears flowing into the ground to create a forest. I wrote this poem inspired by this dream, before I started working on Ephemeral Ecologies. I truly hope there lies a creative energy, not only artistically but literally speaking, in acknowledging and working with grief and despair…(text continues)

compassion.
This poem was born out of a writing exercise which artist, researcher and my dear friend Rona Kennedy had presented me with during our residency at SAARI Manor.

TO BE AIR
Here is an impression of our, the ZORAS Collective`s, working process at the SAARI Residence in Finland. We are exploring and researching how art and activist practices can fuel and support one another. We are also preoccupied with exploring our own collective practice and how we would like to build these kinds of shared/sharing practices for the future. In that we include the more than human world as well, partly by including it into an explorative process of becoming part of a place.
This text I am sharing emerged as result of an invitation by artists/activists Sanna Hukkanen and Inez Louwagie, who are here with me. We were invited to go for a fifteen minute walk and imagine to be another species, organism or other. I hope you enjoy and highly recommend trying it out for yourself.
Many thanks to the KONE Foundation for inviting us into this magical place!

PASSAGE
If you are interested in some impressions of artistic research or just like to dive into this mosaic story about plants, perception, a double bass and me, well then, listen away!

To her.
I recently listened to an interview between Merlin Sheldrake and David Abram, who said that “in its most basic form a prayer is a way of speaking to the world instead of about it”. For me, so is poetry and especially this poem I am sharing here.

Is tree is tree
“Wood Says” will soon be traveling to new places, already waiting to meet new people!
This poem became the epilogue of our sound composition and was born under a young beech tree in a nearby forest some two years ago. It is a little song of becoming as well as a grand celebration of spring!
The fairly old cherry tree you see in the photograph is from the farm I work at and its blossoms one of the greatest gifts I get to experience every spring.

a place.
There always comes a moment in spring when I am reminded of sitting at my desk by the open window in France and doing the first recording of one of my poems. The poem felt so urgent as the feeling was so very present at the time. And so it had to be this one. I hope you enjoy.

My savage one, my dear one
This large drawing was the last piece I created at RAMA Residencies last winter. The poem, though a bit older, seemed the perfect fit. I have definitely stopped trying “to tame the jungle” at RAMA.

Life as a bird
Life as a bird is a poem from 2021. One of these poems that can only emerge when I spend longer stretches of time on my own - walking in the woods, writing, “musing” as they say (whoever “they” are…)
